Welcome To PeBel
PeBel is a voluntary organisation, an independent community group putting pride back into our community and is involved in the regeneration and revitalisation of our local area's open and public spaces.
PeBel was formed to enhance the sub districts of Belgrano and Pensarn. Membership is open to all residents of the above districts.
We meet regularly to discuss and to promote new ventures, these sometimes with the help of sponsors and the local authority.
We welcome new members.
If you wish to become a registered member and contribute to or help in any way, we welcome you to join our group using the contact details on this site.
Pensarn and Belgrano a Short History
Pensarn and Belgrano are the coastal sub districts of Abergele situated on the north Wales coast on the shores of Liverpool Bay a part of the Irish Sea. Earlier in time the part of Pensarn was the out flow or mouth of the River Gele. Rough translation from the Welsh Pen (meaning head) Sarn (the crossing) so Pensarn was the place you crossed the river. Many years ago the River Gele was diverted across marsh to the River Clwyd which out flows at Rhyl.
Pensarn was as it is today a very popular holiday resort especially when the railway was built and of course the station is named Abergele & Pensarn with an hourly stopping service in both directions.
The promenade at Pensarn forms a part of the north Wales coastal footpath and cycle track including a small fun fair and cafes and plenty of car parking spaces thus catering for all ages.
The town is protected with a recent new sea defence wall which allows access to the beach which differs in character from one end to the other. Cars are allowed on a certain part of the beach whilst other parts of the beach are restricted to wild life habitat.
